Jo / 50 / …
Jo is a 50-year-old woman who came to StrengthWorks wanting to feel fitter, stronger, and more like herself again while navigating menopause.
She wasn’t looking for extremes — just a way to feel good in her body, build strength, and protect her health for the future.
The Challenge
Before working with us, Jo was struggling with menopause symptoms and felt physically weaker than she wanted to be.
She was prone to injuries due to a lack of muscle strength and worried about the long-term impact on her joints. While she knew strength training could help, she felt hesitant — unsure if it was the right fit for her.
Why She Nearly Didn’t Start
Jo had understandable concerns.
She worried that:
Weight training might make her look too bulky or muscular
She might injure herself rather than help her body
She wouldn’t feel confident enough in a gym environment
These doubts nearly stopped her from getting started.
The Turning Point
Once Jo began training at StrengthWorks, her worries quickly eased.
The sessions were enjoyable, well-structured, and fully supported. Having constant guidance and supervision from the coaches gave her the confidence to push herself safely — knowing every movement was appropriate for her and her goals.
Instead of feeling intimidated, she felt empowered.
The Results
Over time, Jo noticed changes that went far beyond the physical.
She achieved:
Increased strength and improved overall fitness
Fewer injuries and better joint support
More confidence in her body and abilities
A renewed sense of wellbeing and enjoyment in training
Here’s what she had to say:
“I love that I have constant guidance and supervision — it gives me the confidence to push myself. I feel stronger, fitter, and so much better in myself. It’s made me realise I’m not doing too badly for a 50-year-old!”
