Angela / 50’s / Artist.
Angela is an artist in her 50s who came to StrengthWorks feeling fed up with traditional exercise classes and frustrated that, despite being a keen runner, she was constantly picking up injuries.
She wanted to feel better in her body, keep active, and enjoy exercise again — without making things worse.
The Challenge
Before working with us, Angela felt stuck.
She enjoyed running, but recurring injuries kept getting in the way. Exercise classes weren’t doing it for her anymore, and she worried that starting something new might just lead to more pain, boredom, or another setback.
Over time, it became less about motivation and more about finding something that actually worked with her body, not against it.
Why She Nearly Didn’t Start
Like many people in their 50s, Angela was understandably cautious.
She feared that gym training might:
- Make her injuries worse
- Feel repetitive or boring
- Be another thing she’d start… and stop
She didn’t want to risk losing her love of movement altogether.
The Turning Point
From the very beginning at StrengthWorks, Angela realised this was different.
Sessions were carefully monitored, thoughtfully planned, and fully adapted around her injuries. Instead of pushing through pain, she was supported to train smartly — and enjoy it.
As her strength improved, her injuries began to ease off, and training became something she genuinely looked forward to.
The Results
Angela didn’t just stick with it — she thrived.
She experienced:
More energy and noticeable weight loss
Increased strength and muscle tone (especially in her arms!)
Fewer injuries and less day-to-day discomfort
A renewed enjoyment of training and movement
Here’s what she had to say:
“I’ve gotten so much stronger and toned, and I have such a laugh with the coaches and other members. The sessions are carefully considered and adapted for my injuries — which have now eased off.”
